CPM Lighthouse Workshop

July 4, 20212 Comments

Landscape art can be surprisingly intimidating! That was my first thought when I was invited back this year as a guest Workshop Instructor for the July Issue of COLORED PENCIL Magazine. I'm pretty confident with my skills as an artist and with the colored pencil medium, so I figured if I felt that way, others … Continue reading CPM Lighthouse Workshop

Revisiting Your Art

December 30, 2020January 30, 20212 Comments

Back in October of this year (2020), I came across my childhood colored pencils. If you grew up in Canada before 2012, chances are you are familiar with the brand Laurentien pencil crayons owned by the company Sanford. Yes, that's right, we call them pencil crayons here in Canada. It took me a while to … Continue reading Revisiting Your Art

Cezanne Watercolor Pencils Review

May 18, 2020December 30, 20204 Comments

Cezanne by Creative Mark, previously known as P. Cezanne, is continuing to take on the colored pencil landscape with their newest line of watercolor pencils. I really enjoyed their traditional colored pencil line so it piqued my interest to see that they now have a watercolor pencil line. I'm a big fan of using watercolor … Continue reading Cezanne Watercolor Pencils Review

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a chance to rest over the holidays. I for one got my real first vacation in almost a year and it was glorious! Taking time to rest and recharge is critical for everyone, not just small business owners who still have full-time jobs! This past … Continue reading 2020 is in Focus

My Best of Q&A Book is Coming!

November 17, 2019Leave a comment

When I started writing for COLORED PENCIL Magazine in 2016, I would have been happy if it had lasted even a couple months nevermind almost 4 years! Fast forward to now and I have a new book coming out that is a "Best of" collection of the articles I've written for the magazine in that … Continue reading My Best of Q&A Book is Coming!

It’s been a very busy May working on a bunch of projects in the works. Unfortunately, that also meant not having a lot of time to create art. A little sketchbook mixed media piece I did the other day. ☺️ The weather is finally turning around and the grass is getting greener. What do you like most about spring? Some days you wake up inspired to draw. Today I decided to create this piece of my dog @camaro_theshiba from a photo I took a few months ago. The light was perfect and the snow sprinkles on his face just made the whole scene feel magical. ❄️ Something about drawing and painting oranges makes me think of summer. 😊 I don’t know about you but I’m ready for warmer weather. 🍊☀️ Just a little skull in a sketchbook. 🙂💀 I wanted to explore using different colours on a coloured background to study value and shape. This sketchbook is roughly 8x8 and is the perfect size for me to do a decent sized exploration without feeling too overwhelmed by the size. Did you know that you are 42% more likely to reach a goal if you write it down? Today is International Women’s Day, and while much has been done over the years to fight for the equality of women, there are still places in the world where this is still not the case. I feel very fortunate as a woman living in Canada to have the rights and the freedoms that I do and I wish this gift for every woman on this planet. I teased a small portion of this image a little while ago and now I’m happy to share the full thing. Today’s #marchmeetthemaker prompt is three things. The three drawings in this post were all created with coloured pencil and a different medium.
