For those of you unfamiliar, Inktober was created by Illustrator Jake Parker 9 years ago as a 31-day challenge to improve his inking skills. It since has grown exponentially popular on Instagram with worldwide participation. In this month's Artsnacks box I received not one, but … Continue reading ARTSNACKS SEPTEMBER BOX REVIEW

I'm six months into Artsnacks boxes and so far the honeymoon phase is still going strong. Let's be real though, how is getting new art supplies in the mail every month ever going to get old? If there's any singular joy in this world as an artist, it's trying out new art supplies every month. Whoever originally thought of the making a monthly art supply subscription service is a certified genius. You may think that's a pretty lofty statement, but I believe it's the darn truth. An unexpected but pleasant benefit of these … Continue reading ARTSNACKS MAY BOX REVIEW

ARTSNACKS APRIL BOX REVIEW

One of the best creative advantages I'm getting out of these monthly boxes is deciding what I’m going to draw for the Artsnacks Challenge with my items. For those of you unfamiliar, Artsnacks challenges their subscribers to create a piece of art using all of the items in the boxes month to month and share … Continue reading ARTSNACKS APRIL BOX REVIEW

Did you hear the news? Another quick little painting of a succulent. 😊 Happy long weekend! Quick little jellyfish acrylic gouache painting on this hot Wednesday afternoon. That feeling when you try a new type of paper for the first time and it actually turns out alright! 😄 Ok so fun fact: I don’t actually drink coffee, but I love painting coffee cups! 😄 I’ve been listening to a lot of audio books lately but this one was worth buying the hard copy for! @lisacongdon is not only an incredible artist and business woman but her podcast has quickly become one of my favourites as well. Hey everyone! If you haven’t gotten a chance to see it yet, I’m the guest workshop instructor in this month’s issue of @coloredpencilmagazine Have you read my Faber-Castell Artist PITT pen Big Brush review yet? A closer look at my little bird’s nest painting from yesterday’s reel. One of the things I love about paint as a medium is the ability to layer and create dimension so effortlessly.
