Plan To Be a Big Deal

January 2, 2022Leave a comment

The biggest takeaway from the last year for me was to not put things off thinking that there will be time later. I've often been guilty of saying something is a priority and then putting it off time and time again. The phrase I always come back to though is that if something is truly … Continue reading Plan To Be a Big Deal

7 Ways to Beat To-Do List Burnout

November 28, 2021Leave a comment

Some days it seems like I have a never-ending list of things to do. This includes things for my business, myself, housework, the dog (yes, even my dog has a to-do list), it honestly never seems to end. I pride myself on being a "list person." I absolutely LOVE making them and I honestly don't … Continue reading 7 Ways to Beat To-Do List Burnout

Finding Work-Life Balance

July 18, 2021July 18, 20211 Comment

Self-care and work-life balance is something that isn't talked about enough. There's something about summer that for me always signals the idea of slowing down and taking time to evaluate what's working and what's not in my daily routine. If you are over-extending yourself in any area of your life, at some point your body … Continue reading Finding Work-Life Balance

Ways to Improve Your Creativity

July 11, 2021July 10, 20212 Comments

Creativity is something that most people assume comes naturally to artists. Many would be surprised to learn however that being an artist and therefore being inherently creative are not always synonymous. While it’s true that having a particular proclivity for the arts does tend to make someone see things different than most, many artists struggle … Continue reading Ways to Improve Your Creativity

How to Deal with Clients Who Ghost

December 22, 2020December 30, 20204 Comments

For an artist taking commissions the prospect of a new project is always exciting. If this is a big part of your business it also, in a very practical sense, means more income to sustain your practice. It's not always smooth sailing, however, and there's an aspect to taking a commission that isn't often talked … Continue reading How to Deal with Clients Who Ghost

One of the things that tends to stop some artists from creating is feeling like they need to create a large elaborate piece. The sheer time required to do that can be intimidating enough so instead, they end up creating nothing at all. Getting feedback from my customers on their custom portraits always makes my day. Here is a recent one I did of my pup’s brother Fuji. Swipe to see what my client had to say about their piece.❤️ In case you missed my reel from the other day here is the finished portrait I did of my dog @camaro_theshiba 🥰 Settling back into a regular routine after a vacation is always a challenge. Thankfully it was a short week but it’s felt like an even shorter weekend! It’s been a very busy May working on a bunch of projects in the works. Unfortunately, that also meant not having a lot of time to create art. A little sketchbook mixed media piece I did the other day. ☺️ The weather is finally turning around and the grass is getting greener. What do you like most about spring? Some days you wake up inspired to draw. Today I decided to create this piece of my dog @camaro_theshiba from a photo I took a few months ago. The light was perfect and the snow sprinkles on his face just made the whole scene feel magical. ❄️ Something about drawing and painting oranges makes me think of summer. 😊 I don’t know about you but I’m ready for warmer weather. 🍊☀️ Just a little skull in a sketchbook. 🙂💀 I wanted to explore using different colours on a coloured background to study value and shape. This sketchbook is roughly 8x8 and is the perfect size for me to do a decent sized exploration without feeling too overwhelmed by the size.
