Museum Aquarelle Pencils Review

April 11, 20225 Comments

Water-soluble pencils are a fun and dynamic way to create unique effects in your artwork using a single medium. Caran D'Ache's offering in this product space is the Museum Aquarelle Watercolour Pencils. While not an entry-level product based on price alone, the company's products are known to be worth every penny. I have long been … Continue reading Museum Aquarelle Pencils Review

Pablo Colored Pencils Review

August 17, 20216 Comments

Caran D’Ache is a formidable player in the colored pencil world. Their attention to quality shows in every aspect of their products and they certainly have the price tag to match. For those who may still be dreaming of the day when they can own a coveted set of Luminance, the slightly more affordable Pablo … Continue reading Pablo Colored Pencils Review

Holbein Colored Pencils Review

June 20, 2021Leave a comment

Colored pencil artists in North America have been patiently awaiting the availability of Japanese-based art supply brand Holbein's colored pencils. Up until recently the only way artists here could purchase the product was through online retailers like Amazon and in some cases people were getting imitation products. The issue was that the line of pencils … Continue reading Holbein Colored Pencils Review

Derwent Drawing Review

April 29, 2021June 2, 20214 Comments

Derwent Drawing pencils are not new to the colored pencil scene but are definitely somewhat overlooked from my perspective. I have long been a fan of the superior opaque qualities of their Chinese White pencil but have never gotten the chance to explore the other colors in the set. I finally decided to splurge and … Continue reading Derwent Drawing Review

Liquitex Acrylic Gouache Review

March 23, 2021April 10, 20213 Comments

As a mixed media artist, I'm always on the lookout for new products that do awesome things. While my primary medium is colored pencil, painting was my first love and is still something I enjoy doing today. I first tried Liquitex Acrylic Gouache in an Artsnacks box back in November of 2018. I've been a … Continue reading Liquitex Acrylic Gouache Review

AFMAT Long Point Sharpener Review

February 15, 2021April 10, 20211 Comment

The quest for the perfect long point sharpener – where does it end?! With so many products to choose from, this task on a good day can be challenging. The price point varies greatly as well as the options available. Electric or Manual? Battery-operated or plug-in? Hand-held or desktop? This review may not give you … Continue reading AFMAT Long Point Sharpener Review

One of the things that tends to stop some artists from creating is feeling like they need to create a large elaborate piece. The sheer time required to do that can be intimidating enough so instead, they end up creating nothing at all. Getting feedback from my customers on their custom portraits always makes my day. Here is a recent one I did of my pup’s brother Fuji. Swipe to see what my client had to say about their piece.❤️ In case you missed my reel from the other day here is the finished portrait I did of my dog @camaro_theshiba 🥰 Settling back into a regular routine after a vacation is always a challenge. Thankfully it was a short week but it’s felt like an even shorter weekend! It’s been a very busy May working on a bunch of projects in the works. Unfortunately, that also meant not having a lot of time to create art. A little sketchbook mixed media piece I did the other day. ☺️ The weather is finally turning around and the grass is getting greener. What do you like most about spring? Some days you wake up inspired to draw. Today I decided to create this piece of my dog @camaro_theshiba from a photo I took a few months ago. The light was perfect and the snow sprinkles on his face just made the whole scene feel magical. ❄️ Something about drawing and painting oranges makes me think of summer. 😊 I don’t know about you but I’m ready for warmer weather. 🍊☀️ Just a little skull in a sketchbook. 🙂💀 I wanted to explore using different colours on a coloured background to study value and shape. This sketchbook is roughly 8x8 and is the perfect size for me to do a decent sized exploration without feeling too overwhelmed by the size.
