Hey Everyone, A few months ago I entered a portrait show with my acrylic piece "Audrey" with the intention of donating a large portion of my proceeds from the sale of the original and prints to the Canadian Cancer Society. It was part of my personal goal this year to do a piece that would … Continue reading Audrey Proceeds Donated to Charity

Happy Monday! Today's My Fave Monday Art Supply Post is about Grumbacher Academy Acrylic paints. When I was in high school, I was fortunate enough to win a scholarship award from my city’s Allied Arts Council. Part of the prize was a beautiful wooden box full of a starter set of Grumbacher oil paints and … Continue reading Grumbacher Academy Acrylic Paint Review

In last week’s post, we discussed the benefits of making a colour chart. In this week's post, we will expand upon that when I show you how to create your own. There are many different ways to approach this, so please note that this is just what I have found works for me. You can … Continue reading Coloured Pencil Charts – Part 2

Liquitex Acrylic Ink Review

This month’s My Fave Monday feature is on Liquitex Professional Acrylic Inks. This company is fast becoming one of my favourites in general. Their products are great quality and work so well together. Their overall branding and online presence are also great, which the graphic designer in me is a total sucker for. If you’re … Continue reading Liquitex Acrylic Ink Review

It’s been a very busy May working on a bunch of projects in the works. Unfortunately, that also meant not having a lot of time to create art. A little sketchbook mixed media piece I did the other day. ☺️ The weather is finally turning around and the grass is getting greener. What do you like most about spring? Some days you wake up inspired to draw. Today I decided to create this piece of my dog @camaro_theshiba from a photo I took a few months ago. The light was perfect and the snow sprinkles on his face just made the whole scene feel magical. ❄️ Something about drawing and painting oranges makes me think of summer. 😊 I don’t know about you but I’m ready for warmer weather. 🍊☀️ Just a little skull in a sketchbook. 🙂💀 I wanted to explore using different colours on a coloured background to study value and shape. This sketchbook is roughly 8x8 and is the perfect size for me to do a decent sized exploration without feeling too overwhelmed by the size. Did you know that you are 42% more likely to reach a goal if you write it down? Today is International Women’s Day, and while much has been done over the years to fight for the equality of women, there are still places in the world where this is still not the case. I feel very fortunate as a woman living in Canada to have the rights and the freedoms that I do and I wish this gift for every woman on this planet. I teased a small portion of this image a little while ago and now I’m happy to share the full thing. Today’s #marchmeetthemaker prompt is three things. The three drawings in this post were all created with coloured pencil and a different medium.
