My Fave Art Supplies – Part 2

Still not done your holiday shopping for the artist in your life? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Last week I showed you five of my absolute must-have art supplies. This week, I finish out my top 10 with more art supplies that I can’t live without.

Caran D’Ache Full Blender – Bright

This colorless blender is a great addition to my tricks and techniques with colored pencil. Because the entire blender is made of the wax blender material there’s little waste. The blend is incredible, smooth and consistent. I especially love it for blending skin tones.
Fabriano Artistico 140lb Hot Press Watercolor Paper
I love this paper for my mixed media illustrations in particular. The paper is robust enough to handle wet media and still dry flat but also has a smooth enough tooth that dry media like colored pencil and ink can be applied smoothly.
Moleskine Sketchbooks
Moleskine is another longtime fave on my list. I love the sketchbook version’s convenient 5×8.25 inch size with elastic closure and pocket on the inside back cover. The paper is a heavier weight than many sketchbooks at 111 lbs. The smooth surface withstands erasures well and is a great paring for pencil and ink drawings. Another plus was that there was no bleed through the page when paired with my fave from last week the Faber-Castell PITT Pens.
Tombow Mono Zero Eraser
This is my favorite eraser for small details. The Tombow Mono eraser has a 2.3 mm diameter core and comes with replaceable cartridges. It’s great for getting to those small areas without erasing more than you are intending.
Molotow Acrylic Paint Pen
This is the newest addition to my faves. I like using this for adding in bright white highlights in my mixed media drawings and by itself as a drawing tool. It’s available in various weights but the 1mm is my fave because it’s small enough for little details. The cartridge is refillable and the pen itself is available in various colors and nib sizes.

That’s it for my top 10 art supplies! Hope this helped give you some ideas of things to purchase for the artist in your life this holiday season or maybe even something to add to your own list!
