I’ve been on a creative journey over this past y

I’ve been on a creative journey over this past year working on finding my voice as an artist and exploring mediums I’ve used before in new ways.

I’m so grateful that I decided to invest in myself and push to try something different. I’ve been able to connect with so many more artists because of it and also have sold more art in the past year than I have in a while.

While I love coloured pencil and will continue to create with that medium, rediscovering painting has allowed me to create quicker and in greater quantity than was previously physically possible.

Coloured pencil taught me a lot about discipline and being confident with my mark making. As anyone who uses the medium knows, it’s not very forgiving. I needed that time slowing down to be able to now work faster.

I’ve said before that as an artist I don’t think I will ever put myself in a box with what I do creatively. It feels way too limiting to do so and I have so much more to share that isn’t defined by the medium it comes out of me in.

I appreciate so much all of the kind words that many of you have shared with this newer style of work I have been creating. Your positive encouragement has been a light on the days when self doubt inevitably creeps through and I think everything I’m making is terrible. 😅

If you’ve stuck with me since the beginning, thank you for being here. If you’re new, thank you for being here too. There is so much amazing art being created out there and if you’ve chosen me to be in your feed, I consider that an honour. 🙏🏻

Looking for some prairie inspired artwork for your

Looking for some prairie inspired artwork for your home? Head over to the National Women’s Show at the BMO Centre this weekend and stop by the @marketspot.ca booth (#335 near the main stage).

These 8 paintings along with a selection of fantastic work by other local artists will be featured at the booth.

I’m thrilled to be a part of the Marketspot booth this year as this event typically draws more than 20,000 attendees over the course of the weekend!

The show runs from 10am to 6pm on Saturday, April 13th and 10am to 5pm on Sunday, April 14th. Tickets are $12.75 CAD plus taxes and fees and children 12 & under are free admission.

I’m excited to share that my artwork was selecte

I’m excited to share that my artwork was selected to be in both the Art Gallery and Miniature Masterpiece sections of this year’s Calgary Stampede Western Oasis Art Show.

This is my first year participating in these categories of the show. I’m looking forward to sharing my work with the thousands of people that attend each year and hopefully my pieces will find some new homes!

I will be sharing more information closer to the date of the show in July, so stay tuned. It’s an honour to have been selected by the @calgarystampedeartshow committee and I look forward to seeing the work of the other artists who were selected as well!

✨New Art ✨ As I’ve been pushing myself to explore a new style and even subject matter with my art, I’ve fallen in love with capturing the beauty in nature with my own unique lens.

This famous Alberta mountain scene in Banff National Park is just outside the hamlet of Lake Louise. Moraine Lake is a stunning location best experienced with your own eyes. It has been such a pleasure to paint it in this wide format. This is one of three paintings I’ve done of this location from various angles and at different times of the year. It likely won’t be my last. 😄

Sometimes you have to put a piece of art away and

Sometimes you have to put a piece of art away and come back to it to see what it needs to be finished.

I like to put my art up somewhere in a room that isn’t my studio where I can see it and “live with it” to see if it feels right or if it needs more.

I find that if glancing at it in a normal space something feels off about then that usually means more work needs to be done. If that still doesn’t help then sometimes I will not look at it at all for a few days or more so that I can get fresh eyes on it.
