Sometimes I feel like I’m on a personal mission to see just how many mediums I can mix with colored pencil successfully. While the medium doesn’t need to be mixed with others to look great it’s just something I frankly enjoy doing for a multitude of reasons. I was invited back again this year as a guest Workshop Instructor for the July Issue of COLORED PENCIL Magazine so the personal challenge was on. This time I’m tackling a jellyfish workshop tutorial using ink as a way to tone your surface in addition to using it in your artwork.
The nine-step tutorial makes a perfect addition to this month’s beach themed issue and is one of many valuable articles that are packed inside. The July issue is available now in print or digital form through COLORED PENCIL Magazine’s website. There is a download page that will allow you to access the reference photo and the line art to use as a guide for your own drawing. The article contains a full list of materials and specific colours that I used as well as detailed descriptions on some of the techniques in both Ink and colored pencil.

It’s an absolute honour to have been invited back again this year to do a workshop tutorial for the magazine, especially given my long standing history with them. I hope that you find it helpful in your creative journey and are inspired to experiment with more mediums!
