How to Pick Your Coloured Pencils

March 28, 2022March 28, 20224 Comments

Choosing the right pencil for you can be a difficult and sometimes overwhelming task. With so many brands and lines within those brands, it can seem impossible to choose. Add to that the vast range in price points and varying opinions amongst artists using the medium, it's all a recipe for major confusion. Finding the … Continue reading How to Pick Your Coloured Pencils

Plan To Be a Big Deal

January 2, 2022Leave a comment

The biggest takeaway from the last year for me was to not put things off thinking that there will be time later. I've often been guilty of saying something is a priority and then putting it off time and time again. The phrase I always come back to though is that if something is truly … Continue reading Plan To Be a Big Deal

7 Ways to Beat To-Do List Burnout

November 28, 2021Leave a comment

Some days it seems like I have a never-ending list of things to do. This includes things for my business, myself, housework, the dog (yes, even my dog has a to-do list), it honestly never seems to end. I pride myself on being a "list person." I absolutely LOVE making them and I honestly don't … Continue reading 7 Ways to Beat To-Do List Burnout

So I Quit My Day Job

September 1, 20217 Comments

Everyone knows the saying "Don't quit your day job." Typically it's said to people that maybe aren't very good at something or as comment on that person's lack of faith that the venture you want to pursue won't pan out like you think it will. This is fear based thinking at it's finest and to … Continue reading So I Quit My Day Job

STAEDTLER Packaging Project

November 2, 2020December 30, 2020Leave a comment

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of working with STAEDTLER on a project, that up until recently, I wasn't allowed to share with anyone. It was hard keeping this one a bit of secret since it was basically fulfilling a career goal of mine, but nevertheless, I kept my lips sealed! Fast forward through … Continue reading STAEDTLER Packaging Project

It’s been a very busy May working on a bunch of projects in the works. Unfortunately, that also meant not having a lot of time to create art. A little sketchbook mixed media piece I did the other day. ☺️ The weather is finally turning around and the grass is getting greener. What do you like most about spring? Some days you wake up inspired to draw. Today I decided to create this piece of my dog @camaro_theshiba from a photo I took a few months ago. The light was perfect and the snow sprinkles on his face just made the whole scene feel magical. ❄️ Something about drawing and painting oranges makes me think of summer. 😊 I don’t know about you but I’m ready for warmer weather. 🍊☀️ Just a little skull in a sketchbook. 🙂💀 I wanted to explore using different colours on a coloured background to study value and shape. This sketchbook is roughly 8x8 and is the perfect size for me to do a decent sized exploration without feeling too overwhelmed by the size. Did you know that you are 42% more likely to reach a goal if you write it down? Today is International Women’s Day, and while much has been done over the years to fight for the equality of women, there are still places in the world where this is still not the case. I feel very fortunate as a woman living in Canada to have the rights and the freedoms that I do and I wish this gift for every woman on this planet. I teased a small portion of this image a little while ago and now I’m happy to share the full thing. Today’s #marchmeetthemaker prompt is three things. The three drawings in this post were all created with coloured pencil and a different medium.
